I'm trying to find the tartan of a kilt that was given to me.
I apologize for the quality of the picture. The small contrasting stripe is white (though it looks yellow) and the red is a bright blood red (though the picture makes it look washed out)
I'll give a little back history:
About 10 years ago, an elderly lady that I taught school with came up to me holding a kilt. She told me that she was about to retire and I was the only person in the world she knew, that might appreciate her father's kilt. So, she hands it to me and walks away. I have no idea how old this kilt is. There is no makers mark that I can find. It is an 8 yard, wool, hand sewn kilt.
I was so excited. I ran home after school to try on this kilt. Much to my disappointment, it was too small for me. So, I tucked it neatly in the back of a closet and promptly forgot about it.
Fast forward 10 years and 60 pounds later. I was going through a closet and ran across the kilt. I decided to try it on and to my surprise it now fits. It's a long way from my family tartan but I may wear it anyway given the sentiment that was attached to it when it was given to me. She has since passed.
Anyway, any help in identifying would be greatly appreciated.
