Lost Bonnie Prince Charlie portrait found in Scotland

A lost portrait of Prince Charlies Edward has recently been identified in Scotland

The story was featured on last night's BBC Culture Show. It was a bit too much in the style of Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code for my taste but was interesting nonetheless and prompted me to write to the presenter regarding a couple of other '45 era portraits I've written about.

Fascinating article. Unfortunately the BBC restricts their iPlayer to UK residents only- so we can't watch the show here in the US.

I enjoyed the show, but I had the feeling right from the start that he knew what he was going to find and where he was going to find it.

All in all though, some good insights into the man and his times.

It was fascinating to watch and even when it was found you were still on tenterhooks until it it was confirmed as a Ramsay.

The BBC has done a series about paintings trying to prove their provenance that frequently were considered to be fakes following extensive research and I was worried this might have been a disappointment. Glad it wasn't!

I found the program very interesting and must admit that I was unaware that most of the pictures of B.P.C. that I had grown up with were not of him at all, but of his brother. I suppose as Clan Chief, Lochiel can wear any of the Cameron tartans and does often wear the kilt, but like many of us in the Highlands, tartan breeks are an option open to us , particularly if the renowned Achnacarry midge is on the rampage!
