    "sgian dubh" combs

A while back, I saw someone carry a "sgian dubh" that was a comb instead of the knife blade. It had the sgian dubh handle but the rest of it was a comb. Has anyone else seen these before and know where to get them?

    David,

I have not seen any, but I do like the concept. No way can it be confiscated, and the practicality factor is a plus.

Neat idea, but has no practicality for me.
I certainly use a knife more often than I use a comb. In fact I can't remember the last time I used a comb.
It reminds me of the paperboy in the movie "Better Off Dead" who had a switchblade with a comb where the blade would be.
Sorry, David, I don't know where you could get one, but I will keep my eyes open. Maybe he got it at a local fair... that is the only place I ever saw the switchblade combs for sale.

The comb sounds like a great idea. I have no idea where to find one though. I have recently made one for myself out of an old shed deer antler that has a bottle opener instead of a blade. Going to wear it into the Maryland Ren Fest this year.

Come to think of it, I believe I would have more use for a bottle opener or corkscrew sgian dubh than a comb one.

I appreciate the concept but that comb looks like the one that I have to use on my longhaired cat...not one that I'd want to use on my own hair (or what's left of it).

I think that would be a concern with any comb down the sock. The only solution I can think of would be to have a comb that narrows, like a S.D. would. The teeth wouldn't be completely safe, but it would be safer - 'course, unless you had thin hair, the comb wouldn't be very useful.
