Tailor in Hamilton, Ontario
I have just returned from two months in the Dominican Republic and am looking forward to wearing my kilts again.
i mentioned in an earlier post a few months back that I had lost weight and needed to have two kilts and two jackets and vests taken in. Someone suggested a lady whose name, I think, was Lucy who worked for a Scottish shop in Hamilton. I have tried to track down the thread but can't seem to find it. If someone could give me her contact information, I would be grateful.

You work through Marlene, the owner who, is the most likely to answer the phone.
Lucy is a fabulous little lady who is absolutely not Scottish as you'll see at a glance, but I was amazed at her skills. The first time I met her, she was combining two rental kilts into a single rental for a customer of unusual girth, and she was right down to the steeking and other essentials, making joints at the back of where the pleat would come around.
Pretty impressive to me anyway

I have phoned but been told that Lucy only alters kilts not jackets. Does anyone know of a tailor in Southwestern Ontario who can alter jackets?

Arrgghh! I guess she only alters rental jackets for the store.
Sorry!

Problem solved. I found a seamstress that I have worked with in the theatre who is comfortable tailoring men's jackets and is quite familiar with kilt jackets as she had done some for pipe bands on the East Coast where she grew up. She is also willing to do some conversions of sports coats for me. Ironically, she lives in our own small community.
