A horse of a different color...
So I realy love the military horsehair sporran (along with those cool spats) however when is is considered inapropriate/apropriate to wear these? When I was a wee cadet we were onlt issued with a plain brown unadorned military day sporran, more due to the expense and rarity of their horsehar cousins than anything esle. (Plus likey the fact that a full sized horsehair sporran on an undersized 16 year old would look outright hillarious). In any case I never got to wear them and we always wore the plain day sporran with the Kilt regardless of regular or full dress. In vintage photos of Highland soldiers, I see the Horsehair sporran worn with a wide variety of uniform combination from full dress to in field combat (up to WWI when the kilt apron made any type of sporran redundant) My take it if one wears spats, one wears the Horsehair in most situations. It would seem with regualar hose that the old horsie might be a tad overkill. Thoughts?
