    Black Watch Stair Carpet

Has anyone else considered a tartan carpet for their home?
Gabriele and I chose a Black Watch tartan carpet for our hallway, stairs, and mezzanine and top landings.
The sett is about one metre square.
The carpet fitters are having awful difficulty matching the sett at the joins. Even though we bought a few extra square metres to allow for matching the sett at the joins we now find we have several large pieces of carpet lying around, none of which can be used to finish the top landing if we want the sett to match at the top of the stairs.
The fitters have gone away and are coming back on Monday with more carpet to complete the job.
I now have several offcuts of carpet which I can't use. The largest is 4 metres by about 2 metres in size. If any member is able to use them they are welcome to uplift them, otherwise the fitters will take them away for dumping on Monday which seems a waste.

You could have the edges bound and make them into throw rugs for other areas of the house, or even cut to fit your car floormats? It's a terrible shame to send brand-new materials to the dump!

I agree with sydnie7 , consider saving the leftover and making some floor mats / throw rugs .

I can understand the carpet fitters having a difficult time at matching the joins . Tell them to look on the bright side .... as you didn't choose Stewart Hunting tartan as the carpet pattern .

I want tartan carpet in the dining room, but SWMBO is not keen. The ironic thing is that a manufacturer has an office less than 3 miles from my house, and SWMBO wont even let me go and get a price; despite me showing SWMBO the companys website and that they make them in a huge range of tartans :-(, so we don't even need to have the Baxter tartan

Not for me, I'd never be able to find my kilt if it fell to the floor. Now black watch wallpaper on the other hand...

Wow. If I weren't an ocean away, I'd be there to pick some of the remnants up for assorted projects.
