    Ancient Lochaber Reverse Kingussie kilt

Thought I'd post a couple pics of a kilt that I just finished that has reverse Kingussie pleating. For those of you who haven't seen a Kingussie kilt before, the pleats fold in opposite directions on each side of the center back - away from a center back box pleat in a regular Kingussie and toward an inverted box pleat at the center back in a reverse Kingussie.

You'll notice that the center two pleats are identical. The customer wanted the kilt pleated to alternating pivots so that the kilt back wasn't dominated by one particular color element, so I pleated alternately to the double red and the double light blue. Because there have to be an even number of pleats on each side of the center back, and because the pleats next to the apron and underapron have to be identical, the pleat on each side of the center back also have to be identical.

Below, you'll see an edge-on view of the pleats so that you can see how the pleats fold toward the center inverted box pleat.
