tassels

I'm looking for tassel cones for my long hair sporran. That I'm making, maybe one of you guys can help me out. So far I found the leather,long hair (gray or off white which one?) by the way I am a piper, also need to know where to get the cantle with out breaking my wallet.

No replies, what a drag, lol. Actually I've been looking for over a year now and haven't had any luck. I've looked at lots of craft (jewelry) cones and they're too small. The sporran makers I've contacted won't sell me any, or divulge their sources.

What about a quick trip to your favorite cooking supply shop and get a few cake decorating metal tips? They come in various shapes/sizes. Three identical ones with a simple round nozzle opening should work. I can't imagine it would be very costly to purchase three of them.

I have three fancy cast pewter-like cones around somewhere. And I have three plain chrome cones. And six brass thistle pattern cones. Don't know why, these things tend to collect over the decades. PM me if you're interested in any of them.

Tassels, complete with cones, show up on Ebay all the time.

I just checked, I also have an old brass (bronze?) cantle that has one of the threaded lugs missing. The other two are there and have nuts on them. Free if anybody wants it as a fixer-upper.
