Seeking hose and garter color recomendations
I currently own only the dreaded cream color hose. I want to pick up one more pair of hose (self colored) and a set of garters. My 2 tartan kilts are a Scruffy Wallace casual from USA Kilts and a Black Watch Ancient Phillbeg from Celtic Croft. They will be worn most often in a very casual manner with black 8" boots (often with staff t-shirts of various colors for work). On occasion the phillabeg will be worn as part of a ren faire outfit (with a natural color Jacobite shirt).
My initial thoughts were some charcoal hose and claret garters, but I would love to hear some other suggestions.

As you are wearing your kilts in a casual manner and with 8" boots, I think charcoal hose and claret or red garters would be my first choice also.

I think one can loose too much sleep over worrying about all this. I sorted all this out some forty years ago and have not regreted my choice. I wear Claret , various shades of green and various shades of yellow hose these days and find dark blue flashes(yes the same ones that I chose all those years ago) work with all of them. Dark blue flashes would even go with the "dreaded white hose" too!

If you'd like to save a few dollars, I've had great success dying three pairs of white hose with both commercial dye as well as coffee and wine.

I wear dark green garter ties and sometimes I do an old-fashioned trick: adding a second colour in the way of a red flash on my garter ties. Usually, thpugh, it's just green for me.
Charcoal, lovat blue, ancient green, or tan hose.
@Nathan, how did you die your hose? I'd like to give it a shot...maybe brown or claret. Thanks, mate.

Tintex dye for the blue and yellow. Coffee, green tea and merlot that had gone off for the camel colour.

I have a pair of charcoal Lewis hose and they are excellent go-with-anything hose. I bought red and tan garter ties on amazon.com, and both look great.
