Thanks for sharing the link. Always enjoy hearing the pipes and drums.
Especially cool how this video increased in volume with the pipes, then the drums coming in louder and louder as the musicians got closer.

Thanks for this. I've spent many a happy day in Dufftown over the years. They put on a very fine Games weekend. Lots of happy memories there with my Dad.

I miss their old Drum Major though, he of the magnificent long white whiskers and the intimidating black eyed piercing gaze. I must dig out the pictures now.

    Wow that is so cool!

It's things like that which inspired me to take up the pipes, 40 years ago.

I think I counted 14 bass drums. That's a good turnout of bands!

I noted that only one band was in Full Dress, the rest in the modern standard pipe band kit with waistcoat. One or two bands still in white hose... no' a deid yet!

Going to Highland Games here in the USA for so many years makes the appearance of Massed Bands marching through the streets of a Scottish town, a Highland town, look to cool to me.

My band got to do that! One of the most fun things I've ever done: at our very first competition in Scotland, at North Berwick, we came in first in our grade and at the end of the day all the bands marched through the streets of the town, our band led by a person holding our trophy, the locals all turned out sitting on the low stone walls that lined the streets, cheering us on.

BTW the first tune in that Dufftown video was Farewell To The Creeks.

I'm glad you enjoyed it and it brought back some nice memories. I'm thinking it'd be nice to learn the pipes, just for revenge on some noisy neighbours.
