Did you manage to play any bowls in Edinburgh, Norbo?
My wife greatly enjoyed watching the Commonwealth Games bowls, even though the venue was Kelvingrove in Glasgow (it’s a short-ish train ride from Waverley station in Edinburgh).
I have never played the game (except for a few days at a holiday resort where I was inveigled into playing carpet bowls while it was raining), but my father-in-law, mother-in-law, grandfather and several others in the family were madly keen.
Crown green bowls is unknown in South Africa, although I understand it is played quite a lot in certain parts of England.
    Regards,
    Mike
