A splash of color
I was organizing my closet the other day and realized that I was in a bit of a rut. One of the reasons that I like highland attire is that there seems to be a broader pallet of color options when compared to Saxon attire. That being said, I noticed a distinct lack of variety in my personal selections. My formal doublet is navy blue, my day jacket is grey tweed, and my hose are light grey, charcoal, sage with a grey turnover, red/white diced, and red/black diced. I have a brown waist coat, a black one, and most of my shirts are solid neutral colors. I have flashes in red, black, clergy tartan, blue/black checkered, brown/camel tartan, and one pair of claret garter ties. Most of my kilts are either blue or green based tartans. The end result is that I have a great selection of mix and match items, but most of them are in rather toned down shades. I am looking for suggestions to brighten up my look. The tartans that I have (excluding great kilts) are Clergy ancient, Scottish National, Freedom, and Brown/camel non-clan. Any suggestions are welcome.
