    A off-beat idea.......?

Given the international nature of the Xmarks membership, I had this notion recently that it might be interesting to be able to post a very small voice greeting in *.wav or *.mp3 format. One could then associate a voice with the gallery photos and posts. Question is.... would it consume too much in the way of resources? Is this something worth exploring further? What are your thoughts.

blu, audio files use quite a bit of bandwidth. Not sure Hank wants to flirt with exceeding bandwidth again.

Exactly the issue I was concerned about. I would only propose something of very limited size... just enough time to say something like - "Hello, I'm Buffalo-chip from Blackfly Lake". ( )... 10 seconds tops. Something like that might not consume much more that a gallery photo.

To me the wav. files, over the net,
usually sound like the person has inhaled helium.
Probably because I still have to climb a pole
to connect to the phone company!
Maybe on day we will get to a speed that can
pass a snail, but I have my doubts. :lol

Not a bad idea, but it wont be happening nay time soon. I can assure you that! Bandwidth is a monster. But I may have gotten a solution to the bandwidth problem...right Ambrose?

You can upload Your soundfile to a homepage server and add a link in Your message, can't You? There is plenty of free webspace available.

As long as I have the choice whether to hear it or not, I'm still relaxed on the idea of soundfiles on webpages.

You're quite right, Wolfgang... I starting working on a webpage a while back and never finished it. I will one of these days... but it probbly be a simple image / document tank for doing just what you suggest rather than something of interest to the casual browser.
