    Great Estates Scotland

WGBH Boston is running a series entitled Great Estates Scotland. This evening featured Inveraray Castle, and the Duke of Argyll. An interesting programme on what it takes to run a large house; and yes, there were the requisite kilts and pipers and fly fishing shots we all love so much. The series airs Sunday evenings at 10:30 eastern.

I would check with your local PBS station. You can also purchase a DVD of the entire series through the PBS website. Also, the entire first episode featuring Inveraray Castle, is available in its entirety via the first link below. Enjoy!

Yes, the first one is about the Clan Campbell Castle at Inveraray. Not only do you get a good picture of their magnificent estate, you see the Duke and Duchess of Argyll as hard working young parents making a go of running the place as a business. Of course, the Duke peddles scotch around the world for Pernot Ricard, and the Duchess is a member of the family that owns the Cadbury Chocolate empire. A delightful show and well worth the time to watch.

    Cheers!

But he's most famous for being captain of Scotland's elephant polo team which won the world championship in 2004. See http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/scotland/4073353.stm
