    Dyeing Hose

I'm not sure how I ever came by a pair of white hose, because to the best of my recollection, I've never worn them, so I decided to put them to some use by dyeing them. While i was at it I also had a pair of fairlybright blue hose that, to my mind needed toning down. So I went on to eBay and bought some Dylon Jeans Blue and Olive Green dye and mixed them. Following the instructions, the first attempt was not as effective as I thought it might be, so I added the balance of the dyes to some of the original and left them in for a lot longer than recommended. The results are shown below. Repeated washings and wearings have not altered the end result.

So now I am quite happy wearing my "white" hose.
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!

I like the "weathered and worn" look of the final photo. This is why I quit tie-dying though, that and the 1960's passed by me in a haze.

I'm always finding white hose for a steal, never jump on them because... Well they are white, but I might finally try my hand at dying a pair or two

We must all think alike in some degrees, because I was thinking about doing this same thing with an old pair of white hose. Thanks for leading the way!

Darning tip IsaacW. Get a good Alabaster darning egg as pictured below. Have someone else do the work for you (emulate Tom Sawyer as in white washing a fence) Call it a desire to learn.
