Steampunk

Before I discovered the kilt, I preferred Victorian style clothing, though I had to adapt for the heat and it tended to have a wild west look, minus the weaponry. Has anyone a steampunk fan and managed to do a kilted version?

I seem to recall that Steve Ashton(the owner of this website)put up some kilted pictures of himself at some steampunk do. Just had a ferret about and found this:-

This was a couple of years ago but I've lost 6 stone since then and had to have it all taken in.

Steampunk is an inspired movement of creativity and imagination. With a backdrop of either Victorian England or America’s Wild West at hand, modern technologies are re-imagined and realized as elaborate works of art, fashion, and mechanics. If Jules Verne or H.G. Wells were writing their science fiction today, it would be considered “steampunk.”

Why ask what steampunk is about? I have seen it mentioned from time to time and did not really know anything about it, so I asked.

I've always thought that kilts fit very nicely with Steampunk dress. Regina at Alt Kilt is the only kiltmaker doing anything steam-specific. Her welder's kilt is pretty rad IMO. I've seen great costumes put together with all sorts of kilts, from traditional tartan to Utilikilts. It's all about what you wear with it that makes it work - sounds familiar, eh?

There used to be a big steampunk forum at brassgoggles.co.uk but apparently it's gone. Google and Pinterest should have lots of fun stuff to show you though.
