kilt pins that are to heavy I may have a good solution if it wasn't already addressed

Hi ! One of my friends gave me a pin for my kilts for a bday gift last week. Its pretty, but it is heavier then normal pins..I dont' want the pin to pull down to much ..Well either way I didn't want to be mean and not wear it.. So I had a couple of choices, I could pin it to my Balmoral Hat or use my husband and twin sis advice.. I have a swatch of one of my kilts, so I folded it into a thicker rectangle and stitched it so it will be forever that thick... Well it seemed to work. The pin didn't hang forward and it seemed to take alot of slack off, so I felt comfortable and confident that all my kilts will be safe.. It didn't look odd, u couldn't even tell something was behind the apron part... So this may help all of you nice Gentleman and Ladies IF u receive a slightly heavier pin ..... IF THIS WAS ALREADY ADDRESSED I'm sorry I didn't see it ........ Angie
