day sporrans with fur fronts
I am appealing to the collective wisdom of the Rabble with regard to a type of sporran I have seen a couple of times. They are a fairly standard military style leather envelope day sporran, with fur on the front of the body? Do you own such a wee beastie? Would you? Do you wear it often? Or is it one of those things that falls between daywear because it is leather and more dressy because of the fur, which means it never seems to suit any occasion?
Thanks for all your help.

Falls between the cracks, but seems to be increasingly popular with some folks these days.

I would never buy anything with fur or fur trim, due to the cruelty aspect.

Sorry... how do you feel about leather?

I feel the same now, but the horror of the fur trade came about recently and I already had leather goods. I now will buy neither, nor do I eat meat.

I've several, from custom zebra mane hunter by Artificer, zebra by Bryce, wolverine by Lamar Britt, and a badger bought from Rocky, to a couple different color [unspecified marine mammal] fur and a couple bovine skin, to a primitive non-taxidermied coyote face flap leather bag day sporran---yes, worn regularly and most frequently of all the varieties I have.
All harvested legally. I eat meat. I wear leather shoes and belts. I have no problems with those who chose to do differently, and hope they feel the same about me.

I am reading more chatter about fur sporrans from all types of pelts with varied designs. I feel that it is, as Father Bill observes, an in-between casual and semi-formal accessory. The color combinations are endless and include synthetic materials to accommodate the sensitive natures of folks such as Mel1721L. It is still a personal choice for you. I would be afraid I would destroy one, if it were my favorite, because I would wear it all the time. I'm rough on apparel that dangles.

I have a brown sporran with fur that I purchased from
Stillwater Kilts. I do use it a lot. Douglas Weathered.jpg
