Unable to change password

I have been trying to change my password from the auto-generated one that was sent in my e-mail to a password of my own creation. Even though I am following the posted instructions to change my password, it is not saving it and each time I log out the password for my account reverts to the one sent in the e-mail. I am not sure if the system simply does not like my password (I usually use a combination of upper and lower case letters, numbers, and special characters), or if I am somehow doing things wrong. I even tried using a password that is alpha-numeric only, and it still would not change to my password, and reverted to the auto-generated one from the e-mail once again. If anyone can be of assistance, I would appreciate it.
