Help - Spencer Cut Jacket

I have a nicer spencer-cut formal jacket. Basically a PC without the tails. I am putting three buttons each side of the jacket front. In set up it looks quite good. Question - since the sleeves are plain, that is they have no additional cloth embellishments as an argyll or PC; should I or should I not put buttons on the sleeve as is usually seen on a PC. Those sleeve buttons are reserved for placing on cloth embellishment, yes?

edit: just found a pic of a Kinloch Anderson Coatee with three buttons only along the edge of one side. I think I like that look better that the three on the body both sides. Still, I cannot tell in the KA pic if the sleeve buttons are on cloth embellishment or not
