    New Kilt Hose

Just got the kilt hose I bought from W Brewin and Co. My god, they fit perfectly. Just the right length and fit my calves like a glove.

http://www.wbsocks.co.uk/kilt-hose-kilt-socks/ is the web site if anyone is interested.

A wool and lycra blend sock is lighter and thinner; a better combo for the hot summers in Mississippi. I still go for shorter white cotton socks when I wear my work boots. (The foot fungus thing happens to me via an allergy to the artificial dyes) The natural dyes of wool socks (1960's US Army, OD green in particular) kept me in soggy boots that I would corrode in 6 months time. We joked that my sweat should be used as reserve battery acid.

I have two pair of those hose, I wore them in Phoenix many times and found em to be cool enough to be comfortable in the spring and early summer out there, much over 100 degrees and almost any sock is too hot

Yes! Very good choice for light-weight hose...and the are an economical choice too. I have several in various colors. They have an ebay shop with many of the colors and sizes available.

They're made in the UK? It suprises me because they're less expensive than some of the Pakistani-made hose.

I'll definitely consider these for my next hose.

I've a couple pair of these as well. Definitely a great economy kilt hose, and markedly more comfourtable for warm temps. Very stretchy with all the Lycra/acrylic etc. Got mine on eBay, too.

    I use them frequently.

They are difficult to beat for quality and value and last longer than more expensive hose that I have purchased.

    In Comparison...

IMO they pale by comparison certainly in style to any House of Cheviot hose, but so does the price...

My Dad had the same problem when he was younger - in his thirties. He had 6 pairs of boots so that they could dry out for a week before he wore them again. They lasted for about 35 working years. He is turning 87 today and still has 2 of those pairs. He has often said that laying out the money for 6 pairs of boots was one of the best investments he ever made.
