    Altering a kilt?

I bought a five yard kilt not too long ago, have worn it about ten times, and lost so much weight it no longer fits. It's a fifty inch waist and my waist is now 46. Can it be altered? Can USA Kilts alter it? If not, is there someone you recommend someone to do the work?

    The actual stats

    5-yard kilt

EXACT Tartan name in green "Tartans" tab Murray of Atholl Ancient
Material Weight (in "Tartans" tab) 16 oz.
    Mill (in "Tartans" tab) MM
Text Color of Tartan Description (in "Tartans" tab) BLACK Text Description
Waist Size (in inches) 50 Hip Size (in inches) 43
    Length (in inches) 23
    Kilt Wearer's Height 5'8

The only thing that changed is my waist down to 46"

Shrinking in girth is better than shrinking in height. Father Bill's suggestion on your other post will be the quickest fix. This may be your "go-to" kilt after you alter it until you get the rest of the clothes stable sized down. I hope your health/weight loss is in check. Good luck.

I think the other thread covers it but here's Barb's link again. http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/f...-larger-78931/ Yes, you CAN do it yourself. I have. I was scared out of my wits the first time I did it. Not at all the next time!

Get hold of the people at USA Kilts and ask them. Would be surprised if they could not.
