    Grey & Claret (take two)

Here's the earlier thread. Thanks for the suggestions!

    http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/f...tartans-74192/

I've been looking at other things recently, and here are some of the things I've found.

Burgundy Erskine would be great, if I could get it in kilt weight

    Maroon MacGregor

Portree, suggested by Matt, worn by the Kalamalka Pipe Band

Here's a great grey & burgundy, but I don't know what tartan it is

Southbourne, which I'd not heard of, in two colour schemes, not 'claret' per se

A Grey Stewart in wool from Fraser and Kirkbright

    A Grey Stewart in Polyviscose

and yet another, this one far more sophisticated and elegant, but having blue

Now getting into grey & red, rather than claret/burgundy or maroon.

    MacLachlan in reproduction colours

    Confederate in two variants

And the Ohio State Buckeye tartan

Before I found many of these I threw together this grey & claret concept

OCR...the Grey Stewart in PV is a great looking tartan. My favourite of the bunch you have posted. The Portree is fine looking as well.

Just looked at it again and the Stewart Grey from Fraser and Kirkbright seems to have a bit more life to it than the examples above….it's in their 12 ounce tartan, though…mixed opinions about how that works as a kilt.

Thanks AA, I added that Fraser & Kirkbright Grey Stewart to my thread above.

Portree only seems to be available in 11oz.

I might have to bite the bullet and get a lightweight kilt!

BTW the 'tartan ferret' on the STA site produced zero results when I searched using colour, with 'burgundy', 'claret', 'maroon', and even 'grey'.
