    Correct pronunciation for Mallaig?

    Title says it all. Any help appreciated.

    MALlaig, with the emphasis on the first three letters but with the word running together as one, rather than two distinct syllables.

    I'd agree with Jock on this one, that's how I heard it when I've been there a few times. Whether it is grammatically correct in the Gaelic I have no Idea, But it is how it is generally spoken now.

    Emphasis is on the first syllable in nearly all gàidhlig words.( Pronounced GARL - IK )

    For the sake of clarity, the R is only there if you have an English accent - GAHL-IK might be better.
    Interestingly there seems not to be any accepted etymology for "Mallaig".
