    NEW: Irish Sporran Collection

In the 'kilt world', Irish customers often get the short end of the shillelagh with a bright green shamrock slapped on a Scottish sporran. At USA Kilts, we wanted to change that. We designed a range of sporrans, from the ground up, with the Irish market in mind. We proudly announce, our USA Kilts exclusive Irish Sporran Collection: http://www.usakilts.com/kilt-accesso...ons/irish.html

    Irish Economy Day Sporran ($59.99)

    Irish Day Sporran ($109.99)

    Irish Semi Dress Sporran ($139.99)

    Irish Leather Dress SPorran ($199.99)

    Irish Bovine Dress Sporran ($239.99)

    Irish Muskrat Dress Sporran ($299.99)

Irish Red Fox Dress Sporran ($329.99)

    Irish Horsehair Sporran ($349.99)

They look nice enough, but what does the crown refer to? Ireland has a president doesn't it?

Here's a link to a Wikipedia article on the Claddagh:

The crown symbolizes loyalty. According to Wiki, claddagh rings have been produced in Galway since at least 1700. The crown as a symbol of loyalty, and not necessarily to a monarch, goes back much farther than that. There have been "Fenian" Claddagh rings produced, sans crown, but apparently they haven`t caught on.

Thank you Rocky for this. 12 years in Ireland and this has passed me by completely, but I have not purchased jewellery at any stage.

    The sporrans are very nice.

I would not get too wound up about it John. A crown it is, but its a "Kings" Crown as opposed to a "Queens" Crown and nothing like the ones worn in the UK by the Monarch, or emblems of such.
