Lonach march on Braemar Castle
This is a great video of the men from Lonach marching 14 miles to Braemar Castle. It is a little long (approx. 30 mins.) but well worth watching.
At the 36 second point in the video is a man marching alone wearing a light brown tartan, he is seen throughout this video, can anyone identify the tartan?

I think it's Forbes weathered

Forbes is the main clan around Lonach. By the way, in my young day, Forbes was still pronounced as two syllables i.e. FOR-bis
I have always been slightly puzzled by the fact that the Men of Lonach are armed with pikes which are not usually regarded as a Highland weapon.

I think Alan has hit is square on. Everyone else in that portion of the parade is in Forbes Modern. It almost makes me miss marching; although I have never been encouraged by any Sgt. Major to "assume a lazy posture". :-)

Alan,
Thanks for clarifying the tartan. I watched the entire video last evening, and pondered about the gentleman and his kilt as well. Now I can "assume a lazy posture" as commanded.

The command "assume a lazy posture" was, I think, used peculiarly among pikemen.

Alan,
Thanks for sharing this fascinating post. Sir Hamish Forbes was truly a gentleman hero.

Noticed some of the footwear. Some are wearing buckled brogues, some regular leather shoes, some hiking shoes or ankle boots, but around the 10:50 mark you can see a few pairs of trainers with their distinctive white stripes.
