Today there was a funeral for police constable Dave Phillips, it is extremely unusual for a British Policeman to be killed in the line of duty.

Thousands turned out for his funeral lead by a pipe and drum band.

Very sad indeed. It looks like he was very well honored. Sadly, in this country, officers being killed in the line of duty is not that uncommon. I can think of at least half a dozen here in Washington state in as many years. I can recall watching the funeral of a Washington State Patrol trooper on television a few years ago. One of the most moving events I have ever seen. God bless all who serve.
