Pleat to which stripe?
Unsure which stripes to pleat to on some Weathered Stewart Hunting tartan. Typically it would seem to be to the red and yellow stripes but my wife really doesn't like it so I tried it to the brown stripe and I think I might like that better too. Has anyone ever seen it done that way or does it look odd to a more experienced eye?

My eye is not that experienced, but I really like the brown stripe option. Pleating to red and yellow, which looks so good in the modern colors, doesn`t look good at all in the weathered to me. Beautiful tartan you have there.

I would not put myself in the "experienced eye" category particularly when checking out the south end of a north bound kilt, but I find both pleating choices attractive for the tartan. As your wife will be looking at your posterior far more often, I would defer to her opinion.

Both are nice, but I think that the yellow and red stripes will look snappier.

My better half and I both prefer the bottom option. I think you'll get a nice flash of red and yellow when the pleats swish as you move.

You are still pleating to alternate stripes. And it looks a little odd when done so pale as in a weathered Tartan.
If I can make a suggestion. Try pleating to one of the brown stripes that is inbetween two of the black stripes. You can see this just to the right in your photo.
What this will mean is that every other pleat will be deeper and alternate pleat a bit shallower. But you are using the same element down each pleat. you may or may not like this option but it is a viable option.
Be prepared for the entire back of the kilt to change and have a darker appearance.
BTW pleating to alternating red and yellow is how the Canadian Scottish Regimental kilts are done. Of course they use the Modern version of Stewart Hunting. It is nicknamed the Catsup and Mustard Kilt.

A friend of mine has a kilt in the Stewart Hunting Muted tartan pleated like your second option and it turned out to be a very good looking pleating choice .

I see Steve's point in having a consistent pleat depth. I agree with Rigby that the "flash" of red and yellow will occur (more so per Steve's suggestion).

Pitching in my 1/2 cent for the brown stripe - interested to see the visual of Steve's suggestion..

We both got a chuckle out of that Liam, thanks so far for the opinions. I'll post a picture of Steve's suggestion as I'm intrigued by that one as well.
