Kilt Pics
My noble countrymen... lend me your ear.
OK, so some of you live outside of the US. Sorry about that... you can listen in too...
Have you noticed that most pics of us in kilts just show us standing there with our arms crossed on our chest or our hands on our hips?
We need BETTER PICS of the kilts.
"Better? Whatever do you mean, Rocky?"
I'm glad you asked. People brought it up in Graham's string ("It's here, it's here"). He's a great looking guy and all, but you can't see the QUALITY of the kilt from 1 front shot... especially when everyone takes BASICALLY the same pic (myself included)! We need to rethink our kilt picture taking plan. Here are the 2 suggestions...
Take multiple pics of the kilt from different angles (back, side, front, CLOSEUP, normal distance, etc). Show off the quality! You PAID for the thing... show people WHY!
2nd... Give us some ACTION shots. When people buy a kilt from me and say they'll send me pics, I ask them to send me a pic of the kilt "IN ACTION". One guy sent me a pic of him cracking a WHIP in a kilt I made. That's a cool pic. I brag about my kilts being able to take a good amount of abuse... prove me right! Put it through it's paces! Take pics of you Hiking in a kilt... riding your Harley in a kilt... building a house in a kilt... MAKING A SIGN FOR MY SHOP (Graham...) in a kilt... Singing on stage in a kilt... SURROUNDED BY WOMEN in a kilt...
The list goes on! Don't get me wrong. We're a bunch of good looking men (well... Rufus is kind of ugly, but we won't count him ) and we love to stand tall and take a front shot of us in our kilts. Problem is, there's little variety! You should be OUT THERE in the REAL WORLD with your kilt on ANYWAY... PROVE IT!
Here's a contest for you all...
I want a SPECIFIC picture. It will probably have to be taken by a 3rd person. I want someone in a kilt in a crowded place. I also want the picture to have a "reaction" of another person's face to you wearing the kilt. First person to post such a pic on XMARKS will get a USAK Tshirt (their choice of size). Ther's only 1 tshirt to give away, but even if you're not the winner, please post your pics anyway! I'm sure we'll get some good ones!
Lets see how many people we can catch "stealing a glance" at a man in a kilt.

Whah! I hate you Rock!
Bwahahaha! I was laughing so hard when I just read that comment about me being ugly. If I wasn't the sexy beast that I am, I'm sure I'd be sitting at work in tears right now.
Don't worry, I'm not mad at you. I can spot jealousy when I see it. I know how it is for you homely people, or at least can guess how it is, since I've never experienced it myself. Maybe I'll make a documentary about it, and raise awareness and sympathy for the all of the ugly people across America. I'll name it "Please Stop Talking To My ****: My Face is Up Here" or the shorter "The Rocky Roeger Story". If it's a full movie, can I get at least two shirts?
You know, this whole contest idea sounds suspiciously like the one BBCAmerica has right now for the "Trailer Park Boys". "Take pictures of guys (preferably white trash) not wearing shirts, doing everyday things like mowing the lawn, or pumping gas. The prize: a t-shirt!" Coincidence? I think not!
Seriously though, I think this is a great idea, and could be totally fun. I think there should be a stipulation that the response should be a real one, not some staged picture. And not some response to you flashing them or mooning them - that's not a response to your kilt, but to your naked flesh. Man, I'm bossy! ![Laughing](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)
With school starting next week *GROAN*, there will be lots of newbies on campus...my friend John and I should stroll through kilted. That's sure to make some freshman go into a seizure. So, I guess I'm in for the competition!

Tell you aren't making fun of Bubbles, Julian, and Ricky I seriously think Nelson needs to send the picture he posted from the Grandfather games. The guys with the duct tape holding up his kilt is still my favourite.
Here it is again in case anyone missed it. http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/a...php?pic_id=584
Sorry for the mini hijack Rocky, great idea for the kilted pictures.

I so agree with this!! Apron shots don't tell much about a kilt's quality or looks, and apron shots are about all one ever sees.
With this in mind, after having hung around here for the past month or longer, I have finally managed to get a few pics into the gallery. When the images were taken, I purposefully tried getting some different shots or perspectives. However, my wife isn't the most creative shutterbug and I am not the most photogenic person around. Consequently, nothing ground breaking.
Just to be a smart ****, I did want to take a picture with my kilt on backwards- standard pose, but instead of apron you would of course see the pleats. Unfortunately, I didn't take it, and since I do not have a digital camera at my disposal I won't be able to submit it anytime soon. In light of Rocky's offer, that pisses me off!!
But, I do agree that we need to see some interesting poses here. I am looking forward to the results of this contest.
Oh, that pic with the duct tape is a classic. Thanks for linking to that, Colin!

I like the one of you climbing.and of course it's nice to put a face to your wife.
Rocky:

I was wondering about this as well, Rocky.
Thanks for your nice words, Freelander!
To know someone I always find it helpful knowing their spouse. Thus, I like to mention mine when it is relevant, and it seemed especially relative to post a shot of her.
As an aside, the darned woman will in no way indulge my attempts to get her into formal Highland attire. She feels that Scotsmen get to be the peacocks and what their hens get to wear is too frumpy for her tastes. Since she would wear a kilted skirt, etc. so seldom it wouldn't be worth the expense. She is right because I would have to drug her to get her into it! I even found her the rare ladies coatee at: http://www.kinlochanderson-kilts.com...ml?id=C6AxWz4o , but no luck.

Mychael, I would have to agree with your wife, way too frumpy. Beautiful women should not be covered up in their grandmothers clothes, yet they should not be over exposed in their daughters clothes either.

I do not disagree with this, Colin. But, a nice kilted skirt look can be very nice when not presented with ruffled Jabot-style shirts. The knee length kilt skirts look nice on the younger girls, and they would also look good on my wife and still be considered age appropriate. However, that look isn't formal. When you come down to it, we guys do get to be the peacocks. I am making the most of it!

I can't take credit for that, Nelson (kiltedmusiclover posted it some time ago, and the picture is from his gallery).
Thanks again Nelson, I still laugh at that. I would assume that isn't what Rocky was thinking about for kilt pics.
