Faux Leather X-Kilt

A few years ago my awesome seamstress of a wife made me a naugahyde kilt. Yes I know that nauga's are an endangered species and yes it wiped out a small Nauga village making it, but it looks awesome and gets lots of looks where ever I wear it. I'm not sure if it's stares because these southern rednecks can't wrap their mind around a guy in a 'skirt" or if it's because they know how many Nauga's were slaughtered. Not that I mind either way...

In the 1960's, the Naugahyde fauxclothsis species was much larger and populated larger areas in Southern states. An example is shown in the photo when a domesticated "naugie" was introduced to Johnny Carson. These larger creatures were used in sofas and lounge chairs mostly.

Only the smaller creatures are left in the wild. I'm so glad you were able to find enough for your kilt. Pity it took so many.

I live just up the road from Naugatuck, CT where Naugahydes were first processed. The factory is gone now, testament to a by-gone era.

That's why I use polyester. They don't kill polyesters, they shear them like sheep, it's much more humane.
