Opinions Please
I am in the process of making my next kilt order, yard 16 oz kilt, black barathea jacket, and accessories etc. What I am having a hard time deciding is which of the following tartans to pick. Now each one has a specific meaning to me but I would like honest opinions of what ya'll think. Just give me your thoughts on the tartans I list below, they may or may not help me in my decision making but I would enjoy hearing ya'll's thoughts on them.
Ancient Douglas, being a Douglas and allready owning two kilts in the modern colors I like the lighter look of this tartan.
Maclean Hunting, one of the few non-Douglas tartans that really catches my eye, this tartan besides looking sweet is also the same colors has my high school colors,( my college colors suck!)
Mackenzie another non-Douglas tartan that I really like the looks of.
Douglas Grey This tartan is like weathered to the extreme. The Douglas pattern but in shades of grey, I think this would look sweet pleated to stripe.
Like I said, I just would like to hear what ya'll think of these tartans, I know what I think of them but I want other opinions, if you like it say so and why, if not say so and why.

I am a bit partial to the Douglas Grey with the Ancient Douglas coming in second.

Flip a coin. Better yet, get them all at the same time They are all great tartans, I'd be hard pressed as to which one to get. I would hate to be in your shoes Rob, but my shoes are having the same problem

Rob, if you get a MacKenzie, you might consider getting it in the 18 oz weight. Nice for winter wear... I wore mine when the temps were around 20 deg F, and, even then, I was still comfortable. A lot of people did ask if I was cold, but, that's ok.
Otherwise, the Douglas Grey sounds quite nice. BTW: I haven't seen any pics of you with your current kilt... ;-) Taking after Glen, eh?

No pictures of me simply because I don't own a camera nor do I have a scanner. Also What pictures I do have of me in kilts I couldn't post because they would violate the rules as to content .
I'm not a Mackenzie, I'm Douglas, but the Mackenzie is a noce tartan and I really do wish I could get all of them at once. Just wanted to get peoples opinions on certain tartans.

The Bear kilt I'm waiting for is a Hunting Mclean.I just love the tartan and when it comes I will wear it often.
I also like the Douglas tartans. In fact Blue and green are my fav colours.
This doesn't help you much it just proves others like your choice.
Best of luck with what ever you choose

I have a Mackenzie tartan and it is by far my favourite kilt (a family name) so I may be a bit prejudice. I would say Mackenzie, or the Ancient Douglas (a very nice tartan that I have also looked at).

Well I've narrowed it down to two tartans, Ancient Douglas and the Mclean Hunting. I've also decided to order a charcoal gray argyle jacket instead of a black barathea. Of course I still have to pick what tartan I want. I think this calls for some serious consideration, now where is that Oban whisky of mine?
