    Thumbs up Another Enthusiastic Customer.

It is gets brutally hot here in the South, and this upcoming Summer is predicted to be more of the same. To mitigate this as much as possible, I was determined to add a lighter, 5 yard kilt to my many 8 yarders, while still retaining a 16oz tartan. Since Rocky and USA Kilts get such rave reviews, and my dealings with him in the past have been nothing but sterling, I decided to pull the plug on one of their Semi-Traditional 5 yarders in Sutherland Modern, Marton Mills 16oz.

Add me to the list of fans. The kilt arrived today, and it does not disappoint. A very crisply tailored, well made kilt from the hands of kiltmaker Ian Anderson (Immediately thought of Jethro Tull. ), with virtually undetectable machine stitching, pleats are 1" in exterior width and 3 1/4" deep, and a high quality suit weight cotton twill lining. I had mentioned in passing when ordering that I generally prefer a military style pleating to the line, but understood that it was the kiltmaker's discretion whether to pleat it to the sett or the line due to the price point and yardage limitations. I was delighted to see that they graciously granted my wish, and pleated it to the white lines of the sett. Rocky informed me that due to the mill sending a wee bit more fabric than ordered in this case, they were able to oblige me in this manner. YMMV. They also got it to me much sooner than the predicted delivery date as well.

I will get a great deal of use from this cooler and lighter kilt this Spring and Summer, and wear it with as much pride as my "tanks". At the steal of a deal price for their 5 yard wool kilts, I'm sure it won't be my last. Major kudos to Rocky, Ian and company.

Here are a few photos of the kilt:

    Mike S ,

That's a beautiful kilt , I have always been fond of the Sutherland tartan , it's not seen too often here on XMarks . I also like your choice of pleating .

Rocky and his crew did an outstanding job !

    Cheers , Mike

Cheers Mike. There are quite a number of similar Black Watch based tartans with red/white over stripes, but I think the additional stripes of the Sutherland sett add a certain punch to the combo. I've always favored pleating to the strip with most tartans where possible.
