What tartan is this?

Hi all, My daughter has been given this kilt for highland dancing and I was wondering what tartan it is.

Noting that it has different warp and weft colours in some of the stripes I suspect that this is a so-called 'fashion tartan'.

I wonder that, too. That is, it doesn't match any of the common "dance" tartans I know (especially since there aren't many that are primarily only black and white). (It's also not symmetrical between vertical and horizontal stripes)

I do rather like it, though. I don't suppose you have a picture of the full kilt?

The difference in the warp and weft is very clear in this pic. Note the light brown warp pivot stripe that is red in the weft.

Not to mention, vertically it's thin red-white-thin red-thin white-thin black-white-black-thin white-thin black-thin gray?-thin black-thin white... and so on. Horizontally it's white-thin black-thin white-thin red-white-black-thin white-thin black-red... and so on.

Still, I think it looks nice as a kilt! (I'm becoming fond of primarily-black-and-white tartans, as long as they're of the more complex variety. Quite striking.)

I'm not sure, but I think its more of a Regional tartans of Canada. Anyway, if you want to check it in details, you may look the different designs from The lists of Tartans online.
