two new PV kilts
I'm pleased to say that two semi-traditional PV kilts arrived today from Rocky and his crew at USA Kilts. I was excited to stumble upon their PV tartan sale a few weeks ago and purchased two semi-traditional kilts. I spent last summer in Ireland and I barely used the one PV kilt I had -- the weather was either not warm enough and/or the wind was too blustery. On a side note, I have found that my favourite kilt for Irish summer wear is a 13 oz, 8-yard-style traditional kilt. Now that I'm practiced with the belted plaid/breacán an fhéilidh/great kilt/féileadh mór, the next time I may bring a 13 oz, 4-yard setup to wear there. With the belted plaid, I'm not as concerned with weather because the longer back keeps the kilt down and if it gets wet, then I can easily flatten it to dry. But this summer I'll remain in western Massachusetts where the summers can get very warm indeed.
Anyway, back to Rocky and his shop: I ordered MacQueen and MacKinnon tartans. They fit well and I'm looking forward to the warmer weather to wear them. I'll go grab a few snaps and upload them. The MacQueen is brilliant and the MacKinnon is nice, but much more subtle.
Regards,
Jonathan
