December - California vs, Canada
I think we have all seen recent pictures taken in the frozen tundra of Canada thanks to Father Bill and others. Well, here is a picture taken 2 days ago in the San Francisco Maritime National Historic Park where I am a volunteer.

You are perpetuating the myth that Canada is a frozen tundra......like a lot of people you seem to think it is only Ontario that represents Canada.....a lot of people from Ontario believe that as well, it seems....... I have lived on Vancouver island all my life and could and still don't understand why everyone thinks Canada is just the great white North and everybody ends there sentence with "eh".......I'm here to tell you, what you think of Canada, as far as weather goes, is a Myth....why not come to Canada's west coat for a visit, it will almost be like you're staying home ....only better......Merry Christmas !

You sound pretty angry Terry.
Of course the West Coast is usually beautifully warm, as Steve has pointed out in my original thread. Nor is Canada permanently frozen, and the tundra is actually limited to farther north. But the photo I posted is genuine. I did not photoshop it. I've also posted summer photos here.
Nothing as huge as Canada could possibly be a monolith, nor do I imagine that Phil or Ontarians think so.

I'm sorry Father Bill, No Anger at all and I'm sorry I gave that impression. As stated though I have never understood why so many people all over America and the UK think of Canada as the "great white north" and that everyone ends their sentence with "eh"...... the only ones I know that do that are friends from Ontario heh! heh!
While watching the weather on the news I really think winters must be awful for people living in the east both in Canada and America..... but I know it isn't like that all the time....... I have been to the UK and Europe many times and so many of the people that I talk to, as soon as I say I'm from Canada, start with questions filled with misconceptions. They really know nothing about Canada except for Toronto..... which I know practically nothing about ..... The "Brits" live closer to Toronto than I do!...... But this site isn't about weather so I'll leave it at that! ...........Oh we did have snow here a couple of weeks ago, enough in the hills that the ski facility is talking about opening a couple of weeks early, but here in the valley 20 minutes away..... well I'm pruning my roses and turning over the garden beds......and my neighbour is off on his usual morning round of golf, and the one on the other side of me is going salmon fishing......gotta love paradise...... wherever you find it.

Thanks Terry.
We in Ontario love to complain about the weather, especially winter driving, but most of us actually enjoy the change of the seasons. I used to enjoy camping in the snow!
That's not to say that it never occurred to me to retire to the west coast with you guys. It's sure gone through what passes for my mind more than once, but our family and friends are mostly here, and I really enjoy their company.
My wintery family:

Never want to be very far from them!

Thanks Steve for the levity (news report). We often have humidity in Mississippi that catches the natives off guard. How can we anticipate that sort of thing?
We kilt on regardless and in defiance.
