How bad is my Pakistani kilt
I decided to try one of the custom order wool kilts from a well know source of utility kilts. The kilt in the picture is not mine but looks just like it ,except mine is made with the Gunn modern tartan. What causes the back to look so different from my 5 yard USAK kilt?
Mine does look a little better than the one in the picture because I pressed it.It was only $99 so I guess I can't complain too much, it has a very slick liner that I believe causes the kilt to slip down and hang lower in the back sometimes.
It's hemmed 1" and has very little swish, but
it's fairly comfortable and in a way I like how it flares out more than my 5 yard kilt. How bad does it look, and would you wear it?
Thank you.

Just for comparison.

Of course this one cost just a little more than the $99.00 you paid.

If I'm correct about which company you mean, then I have one of their "traditional" kilts as well. The reason it looks like that is because the pleats are tapered their entire length rather than just at the fell, which causes the "shower curtain" effect such as in that pic. Granted, mine is neither a custom order nor is it wool, just a stock acrylic that I bought solely to have something heavy and inexpensive to wear while shoveling snow (without caring if it gets road salt, etc. on it). But I suspect the construction methods would be the same.

OK, Thank you,The only reason I tried it was because of the positive reviews, its hard to believe they are describing the same kilt as mine.
Here are a couple of the reviews.....
"I have about a dozen kilts. The price for these wool kilts is a steal. The quality is superior and they are on par with kilts costing hundreds."
"this kilt is unreal for the price I could not believe it when it came in. super fast shipping to. this quality kilt is as good as it gets"

Wisdom
"How does one know what kind of kilt to buy?"
Rabble: "Wisdom."
"How does one acquire wisdom?"
Rabble: "With good judgement."
"How does one develop good judgement?"
Rabble: "From experience?"
"How does one gain experience?"
Rabble: "Buying Pakistani kilts."

Its very entertaining to me how tactically evasive everyone is being about this kilt,I assure you I won't be offended by anything said about it.
I wore it out once, then decided it was too embarrassing. Now that I've pressed it the pleats aren't curling out anymore so I'm considering wearing it.I also had to restitch one of the pleats.

It's only bad against the high standards of this site, which aspire to HRH standards of kilt wearing.
Most places you'd wear a kilt, even a Pakistani one, you'll look better than the other men there.

I think a photo of your actual kilt will get a better judgement, OP.
However, I do agree with the statement above that only those "in the know" will have much of an idea as to the kilt's pedigree. To an extent anyway. I think if it was terrible someone may notice obviously poor quality regardless. But I imagine that would have to be an extremely poorly made kilt.
As a knockabout kilt, I'm sure it will be fine in any case.

I actually have nothing against the so called "Pub Kilts". They fill a niche and serve a purpose.
But they are what they are. As long as the person buying it knows what they are buying. What burns me is the advertising that implies that these are full on traditional kilts suitable for any occasion.
