Lost Kilt!
I ordered my very first kilt in 1993, by mail order, from Scotland shipped to California. I have others now, but that was my go-to ancient Douglas 8 yarder, and I planned on passing it on someday to my posterity- it also still fit me! (barely)
I wore it last on the horribly hot (114F) Saturday of the 2017 San Francisco games, returning to the hotel room to change before going to a party. That is the last I remember (for certain) seeing it. The next time I went to wear it- about 2 weeks ago- it was not, and is not, in my closet, but there is an empty kilt hangar where it should be! My routine is to hang my kilts immediately, and also to carefully check a hotel room before I check out, so I don't see how I could have left it. I called the hotel and they assure me they would have called immediately. I suppose a maid or other worker could have found it and kept it, but to what purpose? And again, I really don't see how I could have missed it, as I carefully checked the room before checking out.
Stolen from out of my kilt closet? Impossible. So, it remains a complete mystery.
I tell this tale of woe in the hopes that one of you somehow will come in contact with the kilt, or someone who found it, and remember this post. Thanks for your attention!

I’m guessing you’ve been through all of your luggage that could have conceivably been used for this trip?
I also wouldn’t rule out other closets or storage spaces in the house. Sometimes I’ll hang up a coat or something in a “special” or “convenient” place for its next use, but I’ll ultimately lose track of it for weeks.

Thanks, Richard. Yes, I've torn through every possible corner of the house and luggage. Although, I am hoping that, as sometimes happens, it will show up in that ONE place that I didn't think of. Of course, as you know, that will only happen after I buy a replacement!

Why is it that when you find something, it's always in the last place you look?!

One hundred and fourteen degrees eh, is it possible you left it at a dry cleaners and forgot? I say this cause a friend and family member both own dry cleaners and I can’t believe how many people they tell me leave things behind they’ve forgotten about. Hope ya find it.

Great thought, but yes, I checked at both cleaners where I might have taken the kilt. Thanks for helping.

....probably because, who keeps looking for something after you've already found it?!
Eeh....? Eeh?

I think you've discovered a profound, metaphysical principal!

Steven Wright, for one, but then he's a contrarian anyway.
I do occasionally, just to be sure that what I found was really the thing I was actually looking for. (I've sometimes found things that I'd previously given up looking for and then forgotten what I'd been looking for.)
