    Taxidermy required

I have had my kilt accessories of materials that represent the American West rather the Highlands, for example a sporran of bison hide. Coming up is a sporran made of kit, or swift fox. I'd like to have it made up as a full mask sporran, although my tinder hearted wife says that would make her sad. How muck taxidermy is need to make a high quality fox full mask sporran. Should I engage a taxidermist?

I feel confident in work pelts but have never tried to remove the hide from a skull. I would use a taxidermist and find one that will understand all that you want as a finished product, even if you make the sporran after his preliminary work is done. Good luck and I hope you get a fine pouch.

I would definitely engage a taxidermist to do this part of the project—I’ve seen a few full masks put together with incomplete or entirely absent taxidermy, and they look uniformly sad.

I will be watching this thread. A few years ago a trapper had a red racoon. Where a racoon is black, this specimen was cinnamon, where grey it was blonde. It was quite striking. I demurred because I had no idea as to how to proceed. (My wife had placed our freezer off limits.)

The forest was shrinking, yet the trees kept voting for the axe, because it's handle was made of wood, and they thought it was one of them.
