Advice needed- How to repair moth holes in my old Balmoral?
This balmoral has been with me since 1976 and would be older than that, it was supplied to me with my Highland gear when I joined the Queensland Irish Association Pipe Band.
When I left the band in 79 I was given it as they were changing to a Lovat Green balmoral (or grey?).
Anyway it has lasted the years and sometime in it's long storage some critter ate some holes.
I have been looking for repairing advice and the best I can get so far is to darn it myself with a fine woolen thread in the Bottle Green of the bonnet.
Wondering if anybody knows better how I could get it restored? (The satin lining is ok but also has some big holes.)
Cheers!

Back in the day, my mum would cut matching thread/yard into "fluff" and mix it with a fibre powder (memory does not serve; currently search, perhaps supermend or fuse-it?). This was placed in the damage and hot-ironed between wax paper.
