Utilikilts...how long to deliver?
I am interested in a non tartan kilt...R Kilts and USA Victory Kilts and Utilikilts have all caught my eye.
The Victories and the R kilts are backed up a month or two. I am of course inpatient and overbearing...
How quick is UK from ordering to arriving? Anyone have any experience?
Thanks.

I've had no dealings (yet!) with the other names you mention, Atticus, but I have 9 Utilikilts and can certainly vouch for their quality.
As for delivery time: it all depends upon their stockholding at the time they receive your order. I have heard of kilts being despatched within a day or two of the order being placed, but you should be prepared for an eight week wait then, if your kilt is delivered in less time, you will be pleasantly surprised!
Actually, if you call Uncle Otto on the Utilikilts Toll-Free number, he will probably be able to tell you the situation regarding the kilt of your choice. He's very good at that!

My Utilikilt took about 6 weeks to arrive. What I really like are the cargo pockets, although I know some folk don't, which I find very useful. On the downside was the dreaded British Customs charges and VAT etc etc etc which took the shine off its arrival.

My Caramel Workman's was exactly three weeks from order to on my ****.
With all the kilts that I own, it's possible the most versatile that I have. Casual, work, tough and nice looking. All the pockets make it an absolute joy to wear! No matter how many washing s it goes through, it holds-up well, and actually looks better the more it "ages".
It's MORE than worth the money to get one... or two... or three. hamish will attest to that!

My first kilt, a UK camo original took 11 weeks. Second UK, a tan original, took about 4 weeks.
Ordered a (gasp) UK Black Leather kilt 6 weeks ago...still waiting.
Ordered a UK carmel and a UK black workman's and a UK blue denim 2 1/2 weeks ago, and of course am still waiting.
You just never know...worth the wait.
Some of us gutter kiltaholics "medicate" the UK jones by buying from other manufacturers while we wait. Freedom Kilt shipped me two in two weeks. Pittsburgh Kilts shipped me two in two weeks as well.
Amerikilts is a little longer. Ordered 3 more 4 1/2 weeks ago but got an email from Michael that they're shipping this week. But they can also be fast, my first Amerikilt arrived in less than two weeks.
I wonder how much business has gone to other kiltmakers to medicate the UK jones?? Good for all.

What Hammish said, I only have 8 though. By far my favorites to wear everyday. I do have a Victory and I do like it, but it just is not the same as a UK in the quality dept. Haven't seen a R-Kilt yet.

Don't mention those charges to me! On my leather UK alone I had to pay £126 (US$230) to the British government before it was delivered in Jan 2003! I want to order a couple more (the camos are coming back, but in limited quantities) but I'm holding off because of our import charges. I'll wait to see what's available when I visit Seattle next August.

If the kilt is in Stock, it should take less than 2 weeks.
