Hello from Alaska!
Long time reader here but finally decided to join up.
I have my first kilt arriving soon from John-Henry at ministryoftartan.com, who I highly recommend. A nice Gordon Dress pleated to the stripe.
Going to test out the heavy wool in cold Anchorage, so we will see how it goes. Cheers to everyone stuck at home!

Welcome!
Welcome! I bought my first kilt over a year ago and stumbled through the sales literature until I found this site. I think you will appreciate the wealth of knowledge here. I certainly do!

Welcome from the other side of the Atlantic. I'm a Scotsman living in middle England.
Hope the temperature isn't too cold in Anchorage!

Hello from West Michigan! Snowing here again today, but it never gets as cold here due to the thermal mass of the lake.

kilt weather
Just checked (Sunday 19.4., 20:00 British Summer Time, 10:00 in AK): 4C which makes it around 39F. Temperature shouldn't be a problem. When folk say to me "Aren't you cold?", my standard reply is that my knees are among the least temperature-sensitive parts of my body – and they're used to it. (NB I used to live in Finland and still go there – when travel is possible! – and have to my recollection only once opted to don thermal trousers: when going for an hour's walk in -17C with a sharp northerly wind, which is around 0F. Occasionally I've worn a soft polyester underkilt, though!)

Welcome!
Welcome to The Forum and your new life as a Wearer of the Kilt from Colorado where we had 16 degrees (record low) and over a foot of Snow 5 days ago. Now: Snow nearly gone and 45. Yeah: heavy wool might be your best bet!

Welcome from California!
Ministry Of Tartan is awesome. It's amazing, where does he find all those things?
Sadly due to my large size (6'4" and 17 stone pre-lockdown) very few vintage things can fit me. But it's fun to look!
