Culloden Sporran
Bought this military sporran online a few months ago. With time at home, I chipped away the Blanco finish and conditioned the leather. Not sure how the conditioner worked on the rough (suede) leather, but will continue to experiment.

Next will have the lacquer off the brass and refinish.

There doesn't seem to be any major cracking in the leather so once you get the leather conditioned to an acceptable condition you can opt for a leather dye and buff to even out the finish and wear it in good health.

Very nice! Congratulations! These get harder to find every year.
I still have the bag for one of mine with the blanco on it. Can't decide whether to strip it off or just leave it alone (I built a new bag for the cantle). How did you strip the blanco off?

Would you consider selling this to me please?

Tobus, I began simply chipping the already flaking blanco ("pipe-claying" is what the seller called it), but eventually just put it under the faucet and washed it off. I stuffed the bag with newspaper to restore its shape and let it dry in the sun before thoroughly treating with saddle soap and conditioner. All this was done after detaching the brass cantle.
A funny finish for now, but will try working it up more and "buffing." Any pointers on buffing?

McMurdo, does that mean you would like to donate/sponsor/give/sell one of the two you have?
I'm on the prowl for a brass cantle please. Anyone!

No sorry one was handed down to me from within the family attached to a bespoke sporran, it will never be sold. The other is one that I had Artificer Sporrans do a bag for which is my favourite sporran, it will also never be sold.
