Question about a Feileadh Mor
I’ve ordered 4 yards of double width (54 inches) “Bell of the Borders” tartan fabric with a “tucked” selvedge.
Question: Will I need to do anything with it, or to it, before folding and belting to wear?

I suggest that you turn and sew down the raw edges. See Plate 2 in this paper for an example. http://www.scottishtartans.co.uk/A-l...h-Plaiding.pdf

You could install a drawstring. Makes putting it on much easier.
But truth be told, even with the drawstring in my plaid, I generally go ahead and hand pleat it, just because I want to look good. If I was just putting it on to go wrangle sheep and cows, or work the fields, probably wouldnt be so worried about my appearance.
