I saw "Center of the Universe"

And, unfortunately, I got what I expected. The kid wears a tartan kilt to his parents "re-marriage" ceremony.

    Father: "He's my Best Man."
Mother: "And my Bride's Maid, I suppose."

I was hoping the network would make a bold statement on behalf on choices for men. Instead I saw network television at its lowest-common-denominator best.

So... how 'bout those Red Sox!

My wife called to me when the kid was on but I missed him. Did get to see the scene at the end when he came down playing the pipes.

Didn't watch too much of the show. I was working on my new server in my office. But it looks like the kid's going to be one of those free-spirit kind of wierd kids. you have to at least give them credit for a) putting the character in a kilt. b) the parental characters allowing him to wear it and c) ending up the ceremony with the pipes.

Like I said, I missed the scene, but I don't think it sounded too negative. I mean, a kilt is a odd thing to see on prime time television. Of course they're going to poke fun. Heck, we do it all the time on this board.

I have a feeling that it was only a plot device and it probably will not last out through the entire show.

Aye, I think the same. I must say I like the show, but it was a low blow. The whole episode had different blows to scots, like his first endeavors with his clan's crest, and then with the kilt. And then, to top it all off, he comes out like a fool fake-playing the bagpipes (I LOVED the rapid in and out motion of him squeezing the bag like it was a bellows! HA! Proves how STUPID hollywood-people can be!)
Overall, I felt sick when I saw it (honestly!) I already have to deal with my dad who is an "I Call it a skirt" and "Go get your pants on" type of guy, and my mom who just as well backs him up. Bu, they haven't really put up and offense to me wearing it.
