Kiltmakers using customer's fabric
Hello...back after a long absence with a question. This may not be the appropriate category but please advise me if I should have posted it in one of the other forum categories.
Recently stumbled on my stash of the original Xmarks tartan that was woven by a mill in either the Pacific Northwest or Canada (can't remember). This is three yards (plus 12 inches) of the stuff that was done at the end of the run and was designated as the "bad selvedge" batch....which, indeed, it is...couple of rough spots there.
I had hoped to get my stuff together and make a kilt myself...got the book and all...but, things being what they are these days, that ain't gonna happen. I remember texting or emailing one of the kiltmakers a couple of years ago asking about using the fabric to make a basic pub kilt and, at the time, they suggested that I should send it along and they'd have a look and we could work it out. I contacted them the other day and they told me that they were no longer accepting customer fabric. Understandable but I still like the tartan and would like to do something with it.
So...anybody our there got a suggestion? I've not been on the forum for a while so I've lost track of who's still in business or any new companies that have popped up.
Any help would be appreciated.
Best,
AA

My kiltmaker sewed up my hand sewn X Marks tartan for me. She also sewed up Steve's USMC Dress Blue tartan kilt for me. Just sent her the fabric. She's since moved to Texas her website should still be at www.kathyskilts,com
She did an X Marks tartan vest too.

That link doesn't work: comma instead of period...
www.kathyskilts.com
and that redirects to this, Kathy in New Mexico...

Kathy's email is still the same so it is easy to make contact. Great communication. I just received my Weathered MacMillan kilt for her. Perfect in every way.

Thanks for the update. Glad she's still sewing. She's sewn 14 hand sewn kilts for me. Top quality and value. Can't go wrong wherever she's living now. Has those Scottish Qualifications to boot,

. She is in Wichita Falls, Texas. Things have settled down since the move so she is back to full production mode.
