    My Tartan History

On Tartan Day several old friends posted what could be called their "tartan history" on social media.

Many Pipe Band people, though kilted on a regular basis, have never owned a kilt. If they compete solo they might acquire a personal kilt for that purpose, and might wear that same kilt the entirety of their solo competition career.

Thus the history of the tartans they've worn tells the tale of their bands.

Here's mine, starting at upper left in the 1970s with my first band and concluding at lower right with my current band.

    Thanks!

I should have mentioned the names of the tartans and the bands. I'll also mention the approximate time-period I played with those bands.

    Top row from left:

MacLaren ancient, Caledonian Pipe Band, 1970s
Gordon modern, Gordon Greys Pipe Band, 1980s
British Columbia, RP Blandford & Son Pipe Band, 1980s/1990s
Nicholson modern, Nicholson Pipe Band, 1990s

    Bottom row from left:

Flower of Scotland, Misty Isle Pipe Band, 2000s
Roxburgh District muted, Kevin Blandford Memorial Pipe Band, 2000s
Drummond or Perth muted, Los Angeles Scottish Pipe Band, 2000s
Prince Charles Edward Stuart, Long Beach Pipe Band, 2010s

I guess it would be good to show the bands!!

    Caledonian Pipe Band (1979)

    Gordon Greys Pipe Band (c1985)

RP Blandford & Son Pipe Band (c1990)

    Misty Isle Pipe Band (2006)

Los Angeles Scottish Pipe Band (Glasgow 2007)

    Long Beach Pipe Band (current)
