    Storage

Just starting on the collection (so much stuff so little money) and am also trying to figure out way to store and maintain it. Got a new wardrobe in from Ikea. Got to wonder how Hammish stores them all.

Got these hangers there. $2US each and work great for hanging the kilts up -

Also got this expandable rack from the kitchen area (meant for pot lids) that work well for sporrans -

The drawer from the wardrobe for accessories -

When I'm traveling and want to keep the accessories nice I borrowed from my military gear -

Really like the sporran rack idea - saves just piling them up.

I just acquired 2 new sporran as early x-mas gifts so your sporran rack idea couldn't have come at a better time! I ran out to Ikea and bought a rack last night.

Some good ideas! I really need to get my kit organized. I had been putting my pins on a peice of nylon webbing for storage, which keeps them organized but offers no real protection. I like your idea.

I bought a couple of those "instant free standing storage closets" at the local cheepo store for about $9 bucks each. They have the pipe framework and it is all enclosed and zips shut in a "see thru" plastic cover dome. I doubt they can hold 100 lbs. of kilts but it gets them out of my closet and into a easier to control bugfree clean zone.

I keep my accessories in a display case made by my great grandfather for some of his collections. It's cedar and pine, seals TIGHT (think vacuum when trying to open door), and I've got lots of adjustable glass shelves. It's also out of the path of direct sun.

I have a large 1940's era dresser that belonged to my grandfather that I store all my Highland kit in. There is enough room for my kilt (folded once) to lie flat in it. Currently I have various cedar balls /blocks in it, but I plan to line all the drawers with red cedar (it closes up fairly tight as well).
