Kilt Pins in Wood
I had a request from a Lamont cousin to carve a strap and buckle so he could have it as a kilt pin. He wanted wood , and he wanted it hand done. So I did one up for him out of paduak, a awesome red and burgundy swirl wood. Heres the pics:

Since I was in "mini" carving mode, I decided to do a couple more from a few other funky grained woods,
I did these two from olive wood that was sent to me from Israel:
FTL knot...by me:

And swirl:

The last one is made from a petrified piece of wood ( as of now I am unsure of the species...I am checking with the person who sent it to me) and was inspired by Ben Franklin:

Thanks for looking.

Those are very nice. It must be quite satisfying to be able to think up a design and then create it in a process that takes so much skill and patience. I would be proud to wear any of those on a kilt.

Wow, great job. Those are truely works of art. Do you have a pattern that you start with, or is the pattern all in your mind? I bet those would be good for those here on XMarksTheScot who frequently fly while wearing their kilt in the process of getting through the metal detectors at the airport.
