My son made the Denver Citywide Band!

Every year in the Denver metro area, there is an audition for the Citywide Band and Orchestra. The best students from all over are the ones chosen for these bands. This year for the first time in his life, my son was selected as one of the top bass guitar players in the city, at the middle school age. Anyone get the idea that his bass playing daddy (who never made citywide by the way!) is a little proud of him?

And I think my favorite picture- my little Steve Harris! Notice the Iron Maiden stickers he stuck all over my bass...

And I have to say that this wouldn't have happened without the hard work and dedication of Mr. U'ren, Ravan's teacher at Martin Luther Kind Middle School. That man goes way above and beyond the call of duty, like all of Ravan's teachers. What a noble profession! Ravan and Mr. U put so much time and work into this. Thank you, Mr. U!

    Very nice

Congratulations to him!! That is quite an honor, especially in such a large metropolitan area. Those of us who are parents also understand the support and efforts it takes behind the scenes. Good on ya!

Congratulations, Hawk, Ravan, and Mr. U'ren.

From a X-guitar picker who often ended up on bass in school bands because members kept getting suspended.

    Congrats Hawk!
You and your son should be very proud indeed!

Pardon me for saying so, but I am digging his Meatloaf 'do.

What an achievement, Hawk. Congratulations to your son (from someone who played a little bass in his youth)!

Congratulations! It goes without saying, but I'm saying it anyway. Bass guitars and bagpipes have so much in common. They both start with "B" and it takes both hands to play them.

I was all-city too. Well, town really, and there was only one school. There were eight of us in the band . . . and six of them were drummers. If you rythmically turn a vacuum cleaner on and off in 4/4 time, you get the general idea of what we sounded like while performing Beethoven's Ode to Joy.

Kidding aside, All-City in Denver is a remarkable achievement. I congratulate your son and all those who, by assistance, support and encouragement, have contributed to this fine accomplishment.
