    Carolina Kilt At The Opera

Went to the Granite State Opera on Sunday (Cavalleria Rusticana & I Pagliacci). As always, for a small company, they have the most wonderful productions. A great time. I was kilted in the Carolina State Tartan. Here's a picture we took after we got home.

Here is the kilt pin. It is a handmade jeweled Mosquito by Susan Horth (London, England). I thought the crystals and the whimsy on the bug made for a good choice.

There were two other kilties in attendance (one of the board members wearing his "Ramsey" and the opera executive director, who lost a bet to the board member and was "forced" to wear his family's MacLeod - not the LOUD MacLeod). Was fun to not be the only kilted person for a change.

Finally, though I haven't seen too many of them lately. The Hamish High Kick 2 or the best rendition I could muster.

    Best to you all,

    Scott

I've always admired people who dress for the theater, and your outfit is quite spiffy.

A double breasted "Waiter" jacket. I replaced all the buttons and put on pewter ones with a stag design. The stag is a prominant figure on the Scott crest.

I like the "skeeter" pin idea. I havn't thought of that, though appropriate (Mosquitos LOVE to bit me).

    3 Kilts in a Crowd

Scott - I'm really sorry I missed meeting you. I understand that you and my Board Member and friend Jim Ramsay were not only the two kilties in the audience, but you were seated right near each other. What are the odds?

That bit about losing a bet to him was just a joke, and it got a much bigger laugh than the one I used on opening night in Portsmouth 3 days earlier (something about Clan By Laws requiring an annual wearin' o' the tartan).

I'm glad you liked the production. It may well have been our best ever. The first review was an unusually effusive rave from http://www.operaonline.us

I hope you'll be subscribing with us. Next Fall we start our music Hall performances on Fridays instead of Thursdays. And while that means one less day to break down, move, and set back up, it also means we can have a real blow-out of a reception after Lucia in November.

We plan a big black tie opening dinner at the Sheraton, trolleys back and forth to the Hall and, of course, I'll be in the hunting MacLeod all night. Hope to see you there and get to know you.

    All the best,

What's this? No big Xmarks welcome to a new member in our midst? Shame shame, I say. Mr. MacLeod, allow me to remedy the situation. Looking forward to seeing a picture of you on the job in your hunting MacLeod one day.

    Best regards

    Jake
